Ministry/Communion to the HomeBound

This ministry is a special combination of the ministry of hospitality and the Eucharistic Ministry. A Homebound Minister represents the parish by bringing the “Community gathered to celebrate Christ’s presence” to those who are physically unable to assemble with the congregation.

Ministers to the Homebound visit sick parishioners in their homes and use the ritual, Communion for the Sick, by sharing a Scripture reading and distributing the Eucharist.  They may act as links to the parish assembly by bringing a parish bulletin, parish news, and concerns.

We also have Eucharistic Ministers deliver Communion to retirement communities, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.  Please contact the parish office if you live in one of these homes and aren't able to receive Communion.  We would love to be able to set up a ministry to accommodate those who would like to be receiving visits from our parish.

Any parish member who has been Confirmed may be a Minister to the homebound.  We especially encourage family members of the homebound person to be a part of this ministry.

If you find that you would just like to have someone from the parish to talk with on a regular basis, we also have a Telephone Connection Ministry that we can set up for you.  Don't ever feel that just because you can't physically make it to St. Anthony anymore for Mass that you need to be cut-off from the parish.  Please let us know and we will get you on our list for calls to stay connected with us.

Additionally, if you find you may need a ride to get to Mass, short or long term, because you had to give up driving or are recovering from an illness, etc., and just aren't up to driving for the short term, call us and we will see if we can pair you up with parishioners who can get you to Mass.

We are always looking for parish volunteers to help out in these ministry areas. If you feel God is calling you to serve others who really want to stay connected to our parish but need some help, please let us know.  Your helping hands might be the connection someone needs to keep them spiritually active.  Your voice might be the one to save someone from despairing and feeling lonely.  Y our service might mean a bright beacon to someone who feels lost.  Please answer this calling!

If you or someone you know is in need of any of these ministries, please call the parish office at (262) 251-5910, ext. 10.
