As the primary policy formulating body of the parish, this group makes decisions for the parish by responding to the needs of the parishioners and discerning the will of God in a particular community of believers. The work of the Parish Council is focused by the parish mission statement and articulated in long and short range planning and goal setting.
The role of the Parish Council is:
- Spiritual Leadership:
- Articulate the parish mission
- Ensure the implementation of the parish mission
- Provide a model of prayerful leadership
- Parish Governance:
- Determine the direction of the parish, based on the parish mission statement
- Approve policy to implement the parish mission
- Policy Formulation:
- Ensure that policies which articulate the direction of the parish are developed
- Monitor the implementation of parish policies
- Planning:
- Assess parish needs and available resources
- Determine priorities and options
- Evaluate programs and services
The members of the Parish Council are selected for a three year term in May of each year by the Prayerful Selection Process (Discernment). Their term begins the third Tuesday of June. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM throughout the year in the CFC. All parish members are invited to attend.
